Janet M. Wilmoth, PhD, is Associate Professor of
Sociology and Senior Research Associate in the Center
for Public Policy Research at Syracuse University. Her
work has been supported by grants from the National
Institute on Aging. She has published over 25 papers in
professional journals and books. She is on the editorial
boards of the Journal of Gerontology: Social Science
and Teaching Sociology and she has coedited a
special issue of Research on Aging.
Kenneth F. Ferraro, PhD, is
Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for
Aging and the Life Course at Purdue University. His work
has been supported by grants from the AARP Andrus
Foundation, the National Institute on Aging, and the
National Center for Minority Health and Health
Disparities. Dr. Ferraro has published over 80 papers in
professional journals and books. He has served on
several study sections for the National Institutes of
Health and on the editorial boards of the American
Sociological Review and Journal of Health and
Social Behavior. He is currently the editor of the Journal
of Gerontology: Social Sciences.
